The Infineon linear Hall IC TLE4998S3C has been designed specifically to meet the requirements of highly accurate rotation and position detection, as well as for current measurement applications. Two capacitors are integrated on the lead frame, making this sensor especially suitable for demanding EMC requirements .The sensor provides a digital PWM signal, which is ideally suited for direct decoding by any unit measuring a duty cycle of a rectangular signal (usually a timer/capture unit in a microcontroller). Furthermore, it is possible to attach an external lowpass filter, which allows an A/D conversion using the sensor supply voltage as a reference. The output stage is an open-drain driver pulling the output pad to low only. Therefore, the high level must be obtained by an external pull-up resistor. This output type has the advantage that the receiver may use even a lower supply voltage (e.g. 3.3 V). In this case, the pull-up resistor must be connected to the given receiver supply.The IC is produced in BiCMOS technology with high voltage capability, also providing reverse polarity protection. Digital signal processing, using a 16-bit DSP architecture together with digital temperature compensation, guarantees excellent long-time stability as compared to analog compensation methods. While the overall resolution is 16 bits, some internal stages work with resolutions up to 20 bits.

Each transmission has a constant number of nibbles containing the Hall value, the temperature, and status information of the sensor. The Infineon TLE4999C8-S0001 is a dual channel linear Hall sensor with a bus-capable digital Short-PWM-Code (SPC) interface. The Infineon TLE4999C8 S-0001 provides all means that are necessary to fulfill the state-of-the-art functional safety requirements on system level. It is developed in full compliance with ISO 26262. The device provides high redundancy on one chip by means of two sensor elements included within one monolithic silicon design. The two diverse Hall sensor elements („main” and „sub”) have internally separated signal paths within the chip.The sensor is developed in compliance to ISO 26262 (first edition 2011), supporting safety requirements on system level rated up to ASIL C. The product offers a high magnetic sensitivity drift of 2.5%. Furthermore the noise main channel is 1 LSB12 and sub channel 4 LSB12.
