It features four selectable current ranges, two selectable slew rate settings and extensive diagnosis via SPI. The device monitors the digital supply voltage V DD and shuts down the output stages in case of V DD over- or undervoltage, thus providing a safe switch off path in case of malfunction of the digital control circuitry. In order to reduce power dissipation in extreme thermal conditions the current limitation threshold is reduced linearly for junction temperatures over 165°C. A thermal warning bit is set in the SPI. The two half bridges can also be used independently to drive two separate loads like solenoids or unidirectional DC motors.

The H-Bridge is protected against over-temperature and short circuits and has an under voltage lockout for all the supply voltages “VS” (main DC power supply). All malfunctions cause the output stages to go tristate. The device is configurable by the DMS pin. When grounded, the device gives diagnostic information via a simple error flag. When supplied with VCC = 5 V, the device works in SPI mode. In this mode, detailed failure diagnosis is available via the serial interface

The MOTIX™ IFX9201SG a general purpose 6A H-bridge for industrial applications, home appliance and building automation, power tools battery management and medical applications, designed for the control of small DC motors and inductive loads is available from Infineon now. The outputs can be pulse width modulated at frequencies up to 20kHz - that enables operation above the human sonic range - by means of PWM/DIR control. While the signal at the direction input defines the direction of the DC motor, the PWM signal controls the duty cycle. For load currents above the current limitation threshold (7A typ.) the H-Bridge switches into chopper current limitation mode. The MOTIX™ TLE9201SG is protected against short circuits and over temperature and provides diagnosis via SPI or basic error feedback via status flag. Open load can be detected when the bridge is disabled or during PWM operation of inductive loads. The robust PG-DSO-12-17 package provides excellent thermal performance due to the thick copper heat slug. Thanks to the protruding edges of the heat slug the package is well suited for automatic optical solder inspection.

The MOTIX™ TLE9201SG is a general purpose 6A H-Bridge for industrial and automotive applications, designed for the control of small DC motors and inductive loads. It meets the harsh automotive environmental conditions and it is qualified in accordance with the AEC-Q100 standard.
