Automotive LIN Transceivers

The TLE7268SK is offered in standard DSO-14, while Infineon also offers the TLE7268LC which is realized in a tiny leadless TSON-14 package with lead tip inspection (LTI) feature providing automated optical inspection (AOI) capability. In the automotive body and interior electronics related applications, the number of LIN networks is steadily increasing. As a result, some body control modules (BCMs) are required to provide even more than 20 LIN bus connections. Additionally different component population variants for high-end to low-end BCM functionality is requested in order to realize the most attractive resulting BOM cost. Here Infineon’s TLE7268SK is offering a perfect solution, combining a DSO-14 package with a modular PCB placement capability of other single channel LIN transceivers, such as TLE7258SJ. When compared to Infineon’s TLE7268, available QUAD LIN solutions are not offering this placement flexibility. Also, the higher integration of QUAD LIN devices does not necessarily result in a more effective, less space consuming PCB layout.Next to body control modules, the new TLE7268 DUAL LIN is also well suited for gateways as well as ultrasonic parking modules, where the sensors are connected via a dedicated LIN bus to the central module.

The TLE7268LC is offered in tiny leadless TSON-14 package with the lead tip inspection (LTI) feature, thus providing automated optical inspection (AOI) capability. This makes the TSON-14 packaged DUAL LIN transceiver perfectly suited for applications where tight space restrictions dictate the use of the smallest package possible. It is designed for invehicle networks using data transmission rates up to 20 kbps. The TLE7258 operate as a bus driver between the protocol controller and the physical bus of the LIN network. Compliant to all LIN standards and with a wide operational supply range the TLE7258 can be used in all automotive applications. The usage of different operation modes and the INH output allows the TLE7258 to control external components like e.g. voltage regulators. In Sleep mode the TLE7258 draws typically less than 10 μA of quiescent current while still being able to wake-up when detecting LIN bus traffic. The very low leakage current on the BUS pin makes the TLE7258 especially suitable for partially supplied networks.Based on the Infineon BiCMOS technology the TLE7258 provides excellent ESD robustness together with a very high electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The TLE7258 reaches a very low level of electromagnetic emission (EME) within a broad frequency range and independent from the battery voltage. The TLE7258 is AEC qualified and tailored to withstand the harsh conditions of the automotive environment.
